I love my church – as I am sure you love yours. We take great comfort as believers knowing we are part of the body of Christ and members of the universal Church, but God also calls us to be active members of our local church. Through weekly services, regular Bible studies, and various programs, churches across the country are fulfilling the Great Commission we read about in Matthew 28:18-20:

“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’”

First Alliance Church in Calgary, Alberta, is just one of the thousands of churches in Canada carrying out this mission. Almost 30 years ago, my wife, Susan, and I went to First Alliance Church at its old location when we were visiting Calgary, and now I am excited to announce a unique partnership that God has been arranging behind the scenes for years!

At Focus on the Family Canada, it is our vision to see every family in our beautiful country transformed by love, vibrant in faith and enduring in hope. And we are not alone in this endeavour. We have always cared deeply about the cause of the local church because they truly are on the frontlines of supporting individuals and families in their communities and spreading the Gospel to those who need it most.

That’s why one of our goals in the coming years is to connect with churches across Canada and strengthen existing partnerships. First Alliance Church has been a valued partner of Focus on the Family Canada for many years, and we are so excited for them to be the first church in the country to have a Focus on the Family Canada resource centre.

Thanks to the generosity of one of our donors, this resource centre has been built to provide a safe space for gathering, learning and growing in faith. Stocked with many of our free resources, we hope and pray marriages and families in Calgary and the surrounding area will be deeply impacted by this unique venture. Thank you, First Alliance Church, for all the work you do in helping families thrive!
