Build up the courageous men in your church
Numerous research studies have highlighted the importance of a father who plays a strong leadership role within the family dynamic. However, some men may feel discouraged, uninspired or unprepared to become such a role model, whether within their home or in their church, community and workplace.
As pastors, you have a unique position to engage, encourage and build up the men in your church to be strong, courageous leaders. That’s why we’re excited to share with you about Courageous, an exciting new film that seeks to reach out and encourage the fathers and men of influence in your church. This movie is produced by Sherwood Pictures, the studio behind blockbusters like Facing the Giants and Fireproof, and will land in Canadian theatres on Friday, September 30th.
Full of action-packed drama, Courageous revolves around four police officers who give their best at work but are missing the mark as fathers. As they journey through tragedy and its aftermath, these men develop an urgency to draw closer to God and become more engaged in their children’s lives.
If you have been looking for an opportunity to build up men in your church, Courageous will serve as an excellent tool for encouraging them to go to the next level in parenting while enriching their walk with God. While the film may not be a major Hollywood production, it will help many fathers renew their commitment to their children and make their home a Christ-centred one.
You and your congregation can join other churches in using the Courageous movie to engage men. One of the ways that you can get involved is by purchasing a church resource kit. These kits include movie tickets, plus material for leading courage–themed small group studies. And while the movie’s lead characters are fathers, the resources that accompany this film are geared toward both men and women.
You’ll find further details about the church resource kits, pre-screenings of the film and answers to general questions on the official Courageous website for Canadian churches.
Please prayerfully consider how you can use Courageous to engage men’s hearts and how your church can support them to become the fathers God has called them to be. Please also join us in praying for the fathers who see Courageous, that the Spirit of God will transform their hearts and families.
