The seven-day ministry retreat programs that Kerith Creek first began offering in September 2008 are modelled on those offered at a Colorado program called Sonscape (www.sonscape.com). These programs emphasize rest, renewal and refocusing for the pastor. Those who are married are strongly encouraged to bring their spouse, while singles are also welcome.

The Kerith Creek facility can host up to four couples or singles per session. It is a beautiful, restful setting close to Calgary, but away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Participants can expect to be well fed spiritually, physically and emotionally. They can also expect a program that allows a significant amount of time to meet with God and one another, and to find new energy to return to their place of ministry.

Jerry and Renee Ritskes, Kerith Creek Directorial Couple

Jerry and Renee have enjoyed 25 years of ministry life in locations throughout Canada, their most recent location being Victoria, BC. They have served in many capacities within the church, most recently as senior pastor in two churches for over 12 years.

As a couple, they have a unique perspective on both the astounding blessings and baffling challenges facing pastors and their families. Their ministry with Focus on the Family began in spring 2008, and they are excited about their immanent move to Alberta and the first ministry retreats they will host this fall.

Jerry and Renee are the proud parents of four adult children (three married) and recently welcomed their first grandchild. They desire to use their gifts of hospitality, compassion and teaching (as well as a great sense of humour) to create a safe and open retreat experience for those who minister to God’s flock.
